Living Your Life on Your Own Terms: Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

Living Your Life on Your Own Terms: Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

It’s a common occurrence for people to be discouraged from following their dreams or pursuing their passions because of other people’s fears. Parents often tell their children to avoid certain activities because they’re scared of the potential danger. Enemies may try to scare you to make you weaker - competitors want to knock you off track. The media uses fear to sell products. The government uses fear to change our behavior. But it’s important to remember that living your life based on other people’s fears is not a fulfilling way to live.

They want to help

People tend to scare you away from things that hurt them, but they don’t encourage you towards things that helped them. They want to protect you, and that’s understandable, but it’s not helpful. Other people’s experiences should be a guide on how to avoid stupid mistakes, not every bad thing that can ever happen. I guarantee you will fail, fall, and hurt yourself at some point.

One of the most common ways this shows up is in the message that things are so much harder for black people, women, poor people, etc. Yes, things are harder and we’re not starting with same resources but we are on the same playing field with the same rules. There’s no reason to sit on the sidelines of life, even if some of the refs don’t like you, get in the game.

Living in fear is not living at all. It’s important to remember that fear is just an emotion, and it doesn’t have to dictate your life. Fear-based aspirations aren’t fulfilling, and they convince us that we’re limited in what we can achieve. The truth is, we are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. We shouldn’t let fear hold us back from pursuing our passions and dreams.

Our parents instill fear in us because they don’t know what else to do. They want to protect us and keep us safe, but they may not have the knowledge or resources to help us pursue our dreams. It’s important to remember that their fears are not our fears. We can learn from their experiences, but we shouldn’t let them limit us.

They want to hurt

Enemies may try to scare us to make us weaker. They want to control us and keep us from reaching our full potential. But it’s important to remember that their fears are not our fears. We can choose to rise above their attempts to scare us and pursue our dreams anyway.

The media uses fear to sell products. They want us to be scared so that we’ll buy their products to protect ourselves, soothe the anxiety. These are list of industries that survive solely based on our fear: Police, prison, military, landlords, cosmetic companies, gun makers, alarm & security systems, personal protection devices, financial advisors, disaster prep & survival gear, wedding industries, insurance companies, wellness, online retail, cleaning/disinfection, religion, big oil, big pharma, the American Government. We could be here all day.

Fear is “The Man’s” favorite tool cause it works. But we shouldn’t let their fear-based marketing tactics influence our decisions. We can choose to be smart about the products we buy, without letting fear be the driving force behind our purchases.

Fight the terrorists!

Living your life on your own terms means taking control of your fears and not letting them hold you back. It means pursuing your passions and dreams, even if other people try to discourage you. It means being smart and making informed decisions, without letting fear be the driving force behind your choices. Embrace the risks and accept the results. If fear held me back, I wouldn’t have everything I have now.

Inaction and missing out on what you really want in life will lead to regret and resentment towards the people in your life who succeed or live fearlessly. It’s why so many people seem like lazy cowards, they are. They’re letting fear consume their entire life. It’s so much easier to focus on all the things that are unfair about life than risk fighting them, that’s how people end up living in their parent’s basement: fear.

You don’t want to look back on your life and wonder “what if?”. You don’t want to look at your older sister bitterly cause she chose to follow the rules and has the life you want. Don’t let fear hold you back and drive chasms in your relationships. Take that chance, make that move, and go after what you really want in life. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.ve.

In conclusion, living your life based on other people’s fears is not a fulfilling way to live. We shouldn’t let fear hold us back from pursuing our passions and dreams. Living on fear only leads to suffering and regret. Instead, we should take control of our fears, be smart and make informed decisions, and go after what we really want in life. Don’t let fear hold you back from living your life on your own terms.
