New Age Spiritual Bullshit is Ruining Your Life

New Age Spiritual Bullshit is Ruining Your Life

Basically, everyone I know is caught up on some new age spiritual self-improvement journey bullshit. It promises individuals a way to achieve their dreams and find true fulfillment in life. While there are certainly some valuable teachings within this movement, there is also a lot of new age garbage that is destroying your life.

Manifest deez nuts

One of the most common new age teachings is the idea of manifestation - the idea that you can attract whatever you want into your life simply by focusing your thoughts and emotions on it. While there may be some truth to this concept, it is often presented as a magic shortcut to success without any real effort or hard work. In reality, manifestation is only effective when combined with action and effort towards your goals. Simply visualizing what you want without putting in the necessary work is unlikely to lead to any real results.

You’re not lost

Another new age myth is the idea that you need to "find yourself" in order to live a fulfilling life. This idea suggests that there is some hidden truth or purpose that you need to discover about yourself before you can be truly happy. However, the truth is that you are not fundamentally different from the person you were as a child. Your core values and personality traits are likely to remain relatively consistent throughout your life, and you can find fulfillment by focusing on the things that matter to you and using your strengths to make a positive impact on the world.

Fuck a bag, get the family

Another problematic idea in the new age movement is the focus on material wealth as a measure of success. While financial stability is certainly important, the new age emphasis on "getting the bag" or accumulating wealth at any cost can be damaging. Pursuing money and material possessions above all else can lead to a sense of emptiness and unfulfillment. In reality, true happiness and success come from a sense of purpose, meaningful relationships, and a sense of belonging within a community.

Main character syndrome

Finally, the new age movement can also promote a harmful sense of individualism, suggesting that success and happiness are primarily personal achievements. While it is important to prioritize your own growth and well-being, it is equally important to recognize the importance of relationships and community in our lives. Pursuing success at the expense of our connections with others is likely to lead to a sense of isolation and loneliness.

While there are certainly some valuable teachings within the new age movement, it is important to be critical of some of the more problematic ideas that can promote harmful beliefs and behaviors. Instead of seeking magic shortcuts or focusing solely on personal achievement and wealth, we should prioritize our relationships with others and focus on making a positive impact in the world.
