How it works:

Brown sugar - Its a natural humectant, drawing moisture from the environment into the skin. A natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the "glue" that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin. Glycolic acid is typically used to treat sun-damaged and aging skin. Sugar is an excellent physical and chemical exfoliant. 100% biodegradable. Provides a refreshed skin appearance. Helps maintain skin's oil balance.

Coffee - The caffeine in coffee has a number of benefits for your skin, from treating redness and inflammation, to reducing the appearance of under-eye circles, to getting rid of cellulite. It’s energizing to your tissues, systems, and mind. It's nutrient packed According to an average cup of 8oz coffee contains: Vitamin B2, B5 (pantothenic acid), B1 (thiamine), B3 (niacin), Folate, Manganese, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus.

Sea Salt - packed with all the nutrients necessary for life. Sea salt distils and concentrates them for use in food, cosmetics, and more. The nutritional wealth of sea salt includes vital minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, bromide, chloride, iron, copper, and zinc, among other beneficial elements. Sea salt helps in improving the skin barrier function and eliminating the roughness and inflammation on the skin’s surface. Studies have shown that this anti-inflammatory effect is attributed to the presence of a high content of magnesium in these salts. Sea salts are naturally anti-allergenic and are considered beneficial in providing relief from asthma and other allergies. Sea salt baths also alleviate the risk of infections and contribute towards the overall immunity of the body. Sea salts are also effective in treating conditions like hives, skin rashes, dandruff, and hair loss.

Agave - In Mexican tradition, it's known to help reduce wrinkles, and build strength, resiliency, and elasticity to the hair. It's usually sold in nectar form, a thick brown syrup. It's naturally high in calcium, isoflavonoid, alkaloids, coumarin and vitamins B1, B2, C, D and K, and provitamin A. It's also home to a substance called saponins. They're natural surfactants, cleaners that help break down dirt and oils. They're also one of the best known natural stimulants of hyaluronic acid.

Hempseed oil - comes from the seed of the cannabis plant. It's high in CBD, but has virtually no THC. Therefore it does maintain many of its medicinal properties but won't get you "high." Hempseed oil is a rich and balanced source of omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) & vitamin e. Scientifically proven to treat dermatitis.  This is due to it's antimicrobial, conditioning, and immune system support properties. Hempseed oil does not clog pores. Hempseed oil moisturizes the scalp and hair, promotes hair growth, strengthens hair to prevent breakage, & treats dandruff/flakiness.

Get your skin wet with warm water. Get about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of scrub and splash it with warm water. Apply directly to area. Rub into your skin gently, letting the scrub do the work. Once you're done, let it sit for a few minutes then rinse. The sitting isn't necessary but it will allow for greater nutrient transmission. Follow with Anti-Aging Face Oil or one of my amazing butters.

Why exfoliate?

Have you ever taken a really good shower, gotten out, and felt amazingly clean only to rub your hand over your leg or arm and realize, "holy crap, I'm still dirty." That is a sign you need to exfoliate. That's a sign your outermost layer of skin is not releasing itself the way it should be. This isn't something wrong with you in fact it's very common. Even children have this issue.

When we create new layers of skin underneath our topmost layer, the outer layer skin is supposed to slowly "rough" off. Sometimes that doesn't happen, though. Sometimes, you'll notice patches of old skin that you need to pull. Sometimes, you'll notice really thick rough patches, maybe on your hands or feet. You may also notice changes in complexion like on the back of your neck, elbow or knee. All of these are signs of compacted dead skin. Exfoliation helps keep all that in check.
